A “long time” drink remedy (hundreds of years in fact) for all sorts of things is a honey-cider drink. (see article below) Simple to make and pleasant to drink. It seems too simple to do any real good, but you'd be surprised. I usually make up a quart at a time and drink a cup at a time. Best made with raw (un-pasteurized) cider vinegar and raw honey. When you get the right ratio with the water it simply tastes like a good apple cider, not strong. But if you want to really boost the healthful benefit try adding cayenne pepper (to taste). Cayenne is another one of those very healthful things and it will boost all sorts of good bodily functions. Look it up. Get the cider/honey/water ratio figured out first. It may take a batch or two, before experimenting with the cayenne. Hot as you can take it without it becoming an undesirable drink. This is GOOD tasting medicine if mixed right.

Note: For this vinegar and honey remedy, do not get commercial distilled vinegars as they do not contain the same health values of organic, raw apple cider vinegar.
